RELEVANCE AND EFFECTIVENESS OF FARMER TRAINING CENTERS (FTCs) BASED TRAINING IN GUREWA DISTRICT, EAST HARARGHE ZONE, OROMIA REGIONAL STATE, ETHIOPIA.

Agriculture is the backbone of Ethiopia country economic development strategy and main source livelihood in terms employment, generating foreign currency raw materials for industries. Farmer Training Centers (FTCs) was established as a means to develop human resource enhance innovation needed transform sector productive market oriented system. The purpose this study analyze relevance effectiveness FTCs Gurawa woreda changes knowledge, attitude practical levels, explore institutional linkages with FTCs. This used cross-sectional survey method obtain necessary data 2018/19 production season. obtained from 120 (60 trained 60 untrained) randomly selected respondents 4 kebeles using probability proportion size sampling method. In addition, KII, FGD, review available record at were collection. Relevance based on identifications farmers’ needs constraints, content training, training delivery methods, selection criteria trainees appropriateness period, duration schedules trainings vary among sampled area. Effectiveness identified result assessment untrained farmers, their mean difference farmers towards given technologies commodities significantly higher than 1%, 5% (p=0.01,0.01 0.05) level respectively. According linkage mechanisms, public, private NGOs key actors which are weak functioning training.
